Welcome to my Journey!

My name is Michelle and…………….

I spent years and hundreds of dollars chasing the perfect weight loss program. What I now realize is that it’s not about weight. It’s about health. Join me on my journey to health. The ups, downs, and everything in between!

Where I started!

After Covid I was at my highest weight. 330 pounds on my 5’3 frame. I was miserable, and spent most of my time figuring out how to navigate the world with pain in my knees, high blood pressure, and tipping my numbers from pre-diabetic to diabetic. I could barely walk from my car down the hallway to the elevator to my office! I was barely mobile.

Today I am 74 pounds lighter. But that’s not the story. The story is how I have become healthier. I feel so much better and I no longer spend my time looking for the closest parking space to ensure that I can walk from the car to my destination. It is humbling to be at a point where I couldn’t put on my own socks, stand for more than a few minutes, and get out of the bathtub or off of the floor.

Tips

Stop chasing weight loss and find something that makes you feel healthy and proud for your choice. It can be as simple as eating a salad instead of grabbing chips!

Successes

Today I swam 650 yards! I feel so great knowing that I can get to the end of that pool and back!

My Journey to Health

I started with portion control:

Whole Foods are great! It is important not to revert to all non fat. This has to be combined with portion control. For me, that was the difference. I began to eat a lot less and to “taste” the food I craved. A bite instead of a slice is my motto.

Planning was key:

I ate better when I had a wide variety of snacks in my desk at work. My job changed minute by minute and it was hard to plan for meals. In my drawer I had beef sticks, low sugar snacks, and in the fridge frozen meals. The key was to have items with lower sugar and high protein to keep me going.
